ICMR aims to launch indigenous Covid-19 vaccine by August 15

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) had partnered with Bharat Biotech International Limited (BBIL) to fast-track clinical trails on indigenous Covid-19 vaccine, which is named as BB152 Covid vaccine. It is envisaged to launch the vacation for public health use by August 15, 2020.

Being the first indigenous vaccine developed by India, it is one of the top priority projects being monitored at the topmost level of the Government. ICMR and BBIL are joining working on preclinical and clinical development of this vaccine.

ICMR has advised all its clinical trial sites to fast-track the approval related to initiation of the clinical trail and to ensure that the subject enrollment is initiated not later than July 7, 2020. As the final outcome will depend on the Cooperation of all the Clinical trail sites involved in this process, it even said that non compliance will be viewed very seriously.
