Ah, the celebrity feuds — as much as we may hate to admit we all love some good celebrity conflict now and then, maybe even more than a good celebrity love story, there has been no shortage of them in 2020. Be it the Twitter fights or full-out brawls between famous faces, there have been plenty of notorious celebrity fights this year that have had our biggest stars butting heads. The Pioneer has rounded up some of the most famous celebrity feuds of this year, from iconic rivalries between Bollywood legends to intense fall-outs and more.
Kangana v/s Diljit
What’s the showbiz world without any controversy? Looks like the war of words between Kangana Ranaut and Diljit Dosanjh won’t see an end anytime soon. Both of them have constantly been taking digs at one another owing to their differences of opinion regarding the ongoing farmers’ protests. Recently, the Thalaivi actress questioned the Punjabi singer and actress Priyanka Chopra’s stance on the issue once again through a video on social media. Well, Diljit was quick enough to respond to this and took the help of an audio clip for the same. Not just that, he also mimicked her voice. Interestingly, amid all the controversies that kept Bollywood in the headlines in 2020, this got the nation brimming with an opinion.
Kangana v/s Swara
Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise sent shockwaves across the nation. His suicide sparked the debate of nepotism again with controversy queen Kangana Ranaut inciting netizens to start blaming star kids for making SSR feel left out in the industry. When actresses Taapsee Pannu and Swara Bhasker denied ever feeling left out because they weren’t star kids, Ranaut went on to shame them and call them “B-grade actresses”. Soon, Taapsee and Swara took to their respective Twitter handles and reacted to Kangana’s remarks! This feud is intensifying with each passing day and we wonder what will happen next.
Sonu Nigam v/s Bhushan Kumar
The Sonu Nigam-Bhushan Kumar feud made headlines ever since the singer shared a viral video where he threatened to expose the head honcho of the T-series. After the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, the singer had claimed that he won’t be surprised if more people die by suicide in the near future. Sonu added that the music mafia is bigger than the film mafia. Then, T-Series chairman and MD, Divya Khosla hit back at Sonu Nigam saying ‘T-Series ne aapko industry mein break diya’. Bollywood stands divided on this front. While some believe favoritism exists, others believe that everything works purely on merit.
Karan Johar v/s Madhur Bhandarkar
While professional rivalries in Bollywood are not a new phenomenon, Madhur Bhandarkar did not shy away from taking personal jibes at Karan Johar in the public domain. 2020 became more eventful watching these two filmmakers lock horns with each other publicly! In November, Madhur Bhandarkar called out producer Karan Johar and CEO of Dharma Productions Apoorva Mehta for the title of their upcoming Netflix show — Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. He revealed that he is currently working on a project titled Bollywood Wives and alleged that he had denied giving the title to Karan and Apoorva, after which they tweaked it. Karan Johar had later apologized to Madhur Bhandarkar over the Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives title row.
Anushka v/s Sunil
Actor Anushka Sharma slammed former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar for his distasteful remarks about her while commenting on husband Virat Kohli’s performance in Indian Premier League 13. Anushka, who has faced negativity and trolling in the past as well, for Kohli’s performance, said she was tired of being dragged into cricket.
Ranvir v/s Anurag
Actor Ranvir Shorey engaged in a public war of words with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently. Ranvir and Anurag entered into a heated debate on Twitter after Ranvir suggested that a filmmaker, previously known as a crusader for independent cinema, had turned into a flunky of the high-and-mighty. It’s Kangana Ranaut’s statements that are making Bollywood actors and filmmakers seem to be dividing in the Hindi film industry.
