Indian Institution of Management (IIM), Visakhapatnam, will start its academic activity from July 15 through online. Freshers have to undergo foundation and preparatory courses for a period of about one and a half month before the start of the classes from August 31. While senior post-graduate students need to undergo preparatory courses for a period of almost one month before the start of the classes from August 17.
IIM Visakhapatnam has around 124 second year students and about 150 students for the first year. It is the first institution in Andhra Pradesh to finalise its academic calendar.
It has invested an amount of around Rs 1Cr for procuring software and hardware for conducting online classes. It is going to provide online teaching equipment for the faculty to teach from their homes.
“Lectures will be stored in the cloud and if any student is unable to access live classes due to network issues then they can download the lessons at a later date,” said Prof Chandrasekhar. He also added that the foundation and preparatory courses for freshers will help them to build a foundation on conceptual and analytical reasoning as they belong to different academic backgrounds and work experiences.
