India records spike with 11,000+ cases for second day in a row, becomes 4th worst hit nation


India has recorded 11,124 new cases in the past 24 hours, making it the highest case count recorded. The total number of cases has increased to 2,98,283 cases as of today.

India has also recorded 393 deaths in the past 24 hours, increasing the death toll to 8,501, according to the official website of the health ministry which supplies information on Covid-19 cases.

The number of active cases is 1,42,795, and the number of discharged and cured patients stands at 1,46,972. There was a fall in the count of one-day cases when it dropped to 8,444 on Monday, but it spiked to 11,000+ on Wednesday.

The number of cases in Andhra Pradesh stands at 5,429 with the death toll at 80 as of today. The number of active cases are 2,381 and the discharged patients are 2,968. The number of cases in Visakhapatnam stands at 238, with 12 new cases in the last 24 hours, making it a double digit count for seven days in a row.
