Indian Railways plan to gradually restart Train services in a phased manner from 12th May. Ticket bookings will be open from 4:00 P.M. IST and passengers will be able to book them only via IRCTC website or Mobile App.
Initially, 15 pairs of trains (30 Journeys) will resume their functioning as Special Trains and they will be run from New Delhi station connecting Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad, and Jammu Tawi.
Only passengers who have valid confirmed tickets will be allowed to enter the railway stations. It will be mandatory for all the passenger to wear face cover and undergo thermal screening at departure and only asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to board the train.
Ticket counters at all the stations will remain closed including those of platform tickets. Booking through ticket agents is also not permitted.
All trains shall run with AC coaches only and will be having limited stoppage. Further details regarding the train schedule will be issued in due course of time.
After the resumption of these 15 special train services, railways will start more trains on new routes, based on availability. Over 20,000 coaches have been converted for COVID-19 care centres and an adequate number for running up to 300 Shramik Specials every day to return migrant works to home shall continue as per the current system.
