International Workshop on “Scour and Erosion” will be organised on online mode on 16th December 2020 by the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) in association with Department of Civil Engineering, Andhra University College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam.
Prof. P.V.G.D. Prasad Reddy, Vice Chancellor, Andhra University has released the brochure of the workshop. Prof. C.N.V. Satyanarayana Reddy, Department of Civil Engineering, A.U. College of Engineering, A U College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam is the coordinator of the workshop.
Prof. C.N.V. Satyanarayana Reddy is the Indian Member on the ISSMGE Technical Committee -213 on “Scour and Erosion”. The workshop is intended to create awareness and expose the civil engineering professionals to the causes for soil erosion / scour and impart knowledge on various mitigation methods.
Prof. Shinji Sassa, Chairman, Technical Committee (TC)-213 of ISSMGE, Prof. E.C. Shin, Incheon National University, South Korea & Vice President (Asia), Prof. Jie Han of Kansas University (USA), Prof. M.R. Madhav, IIT Hyderabad, Dr. Paolo, Maccaferri Geosynthetics (Italy), Mr. Albert of Tencate Geosynthetics Asia, (Malaysia), Prof. C.N.V. Satyanarayana Reddy and Dr. M.G. Muni Reddy of Andhra University will deliver the lectures related to the issues of coastal and river scour and erosion, surface/sub-surface erosion of soils and deals with the remedial measures to be adopted to control scour and erosion. The suitability of various erosion and scour protection structures such as Groins, Geotubes, Gabion structures, etc. for beach erosion issues and Geobags, Gabion/ Geocell mattress systems will be discussed during the workshop.
