Johnson and Johnson company on Wednesday said that they decided to start the human trails of COVID-19 vaccine in the second half of July. The American firm initially planned to begin human trails in September but moved it ahead by two months as they were able to accelerate the clinical development.
“Based on the strength of the preclinical data we have seen so far and interactions with the regulatory authorities, we have been able to further accelerate the clinical development”said the chief scientist officer, Paul Stoffels.
Reuters reported that the J&j company had signed deals with the US government to create enough manufacturing capacity to produce more than 1 billion doses of the vaccine through 2021.
J&j is using the same technology that was used for developing Ebola vaccine. This technology was approved by the European regulatory last month.
The company is in talks with the National Institutes of allergy and infectious disease (NAID) to start large trails ahead of schedule. experts say that a safe and effective vaccine takes at least 12 to 8 months from the start of the development. At present there are about 10 corona virus vaccines in human testing
