KGH mortuary to be closed for 2 weeks

The King George Hospital (KGH) mortuary has been temporarily closed for 2 weeks, as all the doctors, post graduates, mortuary staff etc. were sent to quarantine after a postgraduate doctor tested positive for Covid-19.

It is known that the final year PG doctor had returned from Guntur recently, and may have got in contact with the virus while travelling or from a deceased covid-19 patient while conducting postmortem.

KGH Superintendent Dr G Arjuna said, two other medicos from other departments are also tested Covid positive. So, a total of 76 persons including doctors, nurses, ward boys, sanitary workers etc are quarantined.

Though all the 76 are tested negative, for safety reasons they have to be in institutional quarantine for seven days and later in home quarantine for another seven days, after which a final covid-19 test will be conducted before allowing them to duty, said Dr Arjuna.
