In the august presence of Shri N. Prateep Kumar, IFS, (HoFF) and PCCF (WL) & CWLW, Andhra Pradesh, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnam has launched E-Bikes for visitors. A total of 20 bicycles were launched to the visitors’ facility. Sh. Prateep Kumar said that the e-bikes were launched at the zoo premises as part of a sustainable initiative and the prevention of noise pollution. To reduce the usage of diesel/petrol vehicles in the Zoo Park area, we initiated this facility for the visitors, he added.
Currently, 20 E-Bikes are available and more bikes will be made available as per the demand and response from the visitors. The Zoo Authority of Andhra Pradesh is working to develop zoo parks as pollution-free zones across the state, he added. Indira Gandhi Zoological Park will be gradually transformed into a pollution-free zone.
By using the e-bikes, the visitors can benefit their health as well as get immense happiness by viewing the zoo animals while on these E-Bikes and at the same time, benefit the environment, said Dr. Nandani Salaria, IFS, Curator, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Visakhapatnam. The E-Bikes can be rented at the ticket counter near the main gate for Rs 50 per hour and there will be additional charges after one hour, she added. Shri Rahul Pandey, IFS, CCF (Wildlife), Andhra Pradesh, Shri P. Ram Mohan Rao, IFS, CF, Visakhapatnam, Dr. Gowri Mallapur, Veterinary Consultant, CZA, Zoo Volunteers, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park staff and others participated in this program.
