As incidents of house break-ins tend to increase during Sankranti, the Vizag police commissioner has urged denizens to make a request for a Locked House Monitoring System (LHMS) to safeguard their houses. Generally, thieves strike when people set out for their native places to celebrate the festival. In fact, the number of people leaving for their native places is such that the city wears a deserted look during the Sankranti.
Most denizens prefer taking a break for the festival or celebrating it in their native places. Taking advantage of this, burglars go on the prowl. LHMS not only safeguards the house, but help cops to check the rising incidents. LHMS services are available free of cost and one just needs to download the mobile application and put up a request. Denizens are gradually showing interest in the facility.
When anyone moves in the house under monitoring by LHMS, the police control centre gets a buzz and pictures from the CCTV centre installed at the house. The control centre immediately informs the police station closest to the house. The virtual house guarding service is just an app-download away. “Just after giving basic details, people can register in the app. And, a day or two before leaving, they can put a request in the app giving the journey and return date” said a cop.
