Again the lockdown has been extended and some of the vizagities are utilizing this as a golden opportunity to work in their craft. One of them is Pranay Kar who is working on the betterment of his moves, understanding the music or the beats, cause dance becomes easier when you know your beats well.

Currently he is using his locking style in some popular songs in Telugu, Hindi and putting out those videos in social media. “Usually I have quite a hectic schedule and take at least one month break in the summers, this is like a prolonged break where he is relaxing as well as working on his craft.” says Pranay. He also took part in an online Wackmas battle where people battle in their locking and waacking style and he bags the top 9 position.

He says “Dream big and don’t hold back from achieving your dreams”, a member of House of Karma, International dance school. Previously he bagged the gold medal in the locking category, at the Hip- Hop International competition held in Goa on May 9, last year.

From the age of 6, he started dancing, be it any song irrespective of the language he would shake a leg to the beat. Since then as a child he knew this is what he liked doing and would continue further, despite the obstacles coming on the way. For him it was the gully that fascinated him the most. “When I was 13 years old we were 15 of us who would use up the lanes at 104 area to practice our dance. Mostly I performed street style that includes B-boying , Breaking”.

Not all stories are sob stories like in the Indian idol or any reality show. He laughs and says “Not everyone’s parents are Villainous contrivers, some parents back up their child’s dreams, Just like mine,”. His parents didn’t only understand his passion for dance but were always there to support him at his odd days.
Pranay is not only a dancer but also completed his MBA from Gayatri Vidya Parishad. He knew his heart lies in dance but couldn’t leave his academics behind.

Pranay will be taking part in the Hip Hop international again which will be conducted in Mumbai, due to the lockdown the event has been pushed to the month of November.

Mostly everyone has shifted to teaching online dance classes or yoga, he says “The reason why I didn’t choose that method is because teaching dance in online doesn’t give me the feel or satisfaction.” For now he is just entertaining people by performing locking to the groovy songs but the future may hold another version of his which no one has seen yet, claims Pranay. His dream is to put Vizag in the map of international dancing, where people will know the city for not only its beauty but also for the dance. Even his two students Krithika and Angel Sharma got selected in dance reality shows.
