Collector and District Election Officer, V Vinay Chand said that as the elections for Visakhapatnam Corporation, Narsipatnam and Yalamanchili municipalities are underway in the district, the 10th of this month will be declared as a paid holiday so that the employees of all the institutions can exercise their right to vote.
According to GO No. 67 issued by the government, the orders will apply to all public undertakings, private business establishments and industries. He said that any holiday can be converted into a working day. Companies that could not leave were ordered to give their employees three hours to exercise their right to vote.
Closure of liquor stores
In the wake of the election, liquor stores will be closed for 48 hours from the day before polling to the end of the counting day, the collector said. He said the orders would be in force from the evening of the 8th of this month till the end of polling on the 14th day of the counting of votes.
