Industries minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy has requested Union Shipping Minister Mansukh Madaviya to extend financial support from the Government of India to the upcoming Ramayapatnam Port and Fishing Harbour in AP. He also requested Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal to support Andhra Pradesh to set up a multimodal logistics park in the state.
Goutham Reddy is in New Delhi where he met the Union Ministers and submitted representations to them. He also met CONCOR CMD Kalyana Rama. “The Government of Andhra Pradesh is developing Kopparthy, YSR Kadapa district and Orvakal in Kurnool district as industrial hubs. With large land banks, proximity to domestic demand centres, and availability of skilled workforce, the locations are well suited to lead the industrial development in the state. In this context, we urge the Government of India for establishing a multi-modal logistics park at Kopparthy and in Kurnool,” Goutham Reddy requested Piyush Goyal.
He also said that the State government is focusing on developing the toys sector. The sector has been identified as one of the focus sectors in the industrial policy of 2018- 23. “We have further identified 114 clusters under SFURTI and MSE CDP. The government proposes to establish an integrated toys park covering the complete gamut of traditional/electronic/plush toys for domestic and export markets. Financial assistance in this regard from the GoI would help create a world class integrated park for toys that would stand as a model for emulation,” he said.
Gautham Reddy said THAT to enable Prime Minister’s vision ‘Vocal for Local’, the AP Government has identified 13 products from 13 districts. These products are a mix of handlooms, handicrafts, toys, food processing and minerals. A broad action plan has been envisaged like cluster diagnostic study, SPV formation, DPR preparation, district action plan preparation, implementation, monitoring evaluation. “We are seeking financial assistance from the Central Govt for cluster diagnostic study and marketing support,” he said.
