Board of Disabled Cricket Association which was affiliated with 22 states in India and relatively formed 13 years ago has now established as a force to reckon with after conducting several inter-state tournaments and National level tournaments for physically challenged cricketers in and around the country.
A note from Board of Disabled Cricket Association (India) stated that Boddepalli Raghu (MD of Surakesha Hospitals) has been unanimously elected as the new President while Suravarapu Subbarao (Raman) & Lakshman Vema have been elected as Vice Presidents.
Sources informed that the board name from Board of Disabled Cricket Association India(BDCA) has been changed to Board of Disabled Cricket India (BDCI).
Dr Raghu, said, “There is a lot of potential in people with disabilities. Moreover, playing sports makes them more energetic and active. It also helps them to feel positive and our vision is to encourage them. We would organise cricket for women, for the blind, for the ones who are wheelchair-bound and many such categories.”
