After the poisonous gas leak at LG Polymers incident occurred which took lives of 11, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had directed LG Polymers India Pvt. Ltd. to deposit an amount of 50 Crores INR initially in view of the damages caused.

Later a committee of six members was constituted with Andhra Pradesh High Court Judge, Justice B Seshasayana Reddy as Chairman.

The six-membered committee constituted by the NGT will submit its interim report to the tribunal on May 18 in regards with the gas leak incident. At the moment, the committee has been collecting information from all victims and eyewitnesses.

Committee members are also inspecting the site of gas leak at LG Polymers at RR Venkatapuram. Chairman is to visit the affected areas on 15th May and interact with the victims and eyewitnesses.

The NGT also issued notices to the state and central pollution control boards, the ministry of environment, the Visakhapatnam administration forests and climate change and LG Polymers India to submit their opinions on the incident.
