The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) announced that Ganesh idols which were made in china were not imported this year. As a part of “Boycott Chinese products” the CAIT has informed the trade associations, not to import Ganesh idols from China. As per the estimates every year Rs. 500 crore worth idols were imported from China, but this year the amount stood at nil. Usually around 30 crore idols were sold in India every year for Ganesh chaturthi. This year the business is done completely with made in India idols.
Earlier, CAIT has announced to boycott made in China rakhi’s and related products which is also a huge success, it not only saved amount but also promoted local industry products and self employment. Following the same path it has now restricted idols imports this resulted in reduced dumping of Chinese products along with increased sales of local and eco friendly idols.
This can be considered as a huge success and further implementations would help in India’s balance of payments. Recently Prime minister Modi has carried out discussions on increasing plastic toys manufacturing units in India as a part of ‘AATMANIRBHAR BHARAT’, he also stressed that youth should come forward with innovative ideas. Boycott Chinese products and Aatmanirbhar Bharat will bear fruits in the near future, if Indians come together and work towards making India self sufficient.
