In line with the new Tourism policy to promote adventure tourism, plans to initiate adventure activities at Tajangi reservoir is in full swing. Located just 6km away from Lambasingi, tourists can halt at the Thajangi Reservoir while going back from Lambasingi to Vishakhapatnam. The reservoir, with hills in the background and the light flowing water, provides a beautiful setup for photographers.
Here, tourists experience zip lining across the reservoir and trampoline put up by the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA). Other adventure sports like para-motoring, bungee jumping, and boating will commence within a month or two. Speaking to Hello Vizag, chairman of Tajangi Reservoir Adventure Tourism Association Chetti Shankar Rao said, paramotoring is expected to start soon. For this, we have finished the trials for paramotoring, after getting due permission from the ITDA. We will be starting boating, both speed and paddle boats from this month. More in the offing is Bungee jumping (spelled bungy jumping, is an activity that involves a person jumping from a great height while connected to a large elastic cord.)
Zip-lining, (A zip line is made up of a pulley appended to a stainless-steel cable extended between fixed points of different elevations. Also known as ‘zip wire’, ‘flying fox’ and ‘Tyrolean Crossing’, it allows a person, fastened to the moving pulley, to ‘zip’ from the top to the bottom of a cable, propelled by gravity) which commenced in December 2019, has turned out to be a popular activity. On average, 250 tickets are sold every day, each priced at Rs 200. “It is done at a height of around 60 feet from the ground and the activity lasts for 30 to 45 seconds depending on the weight of the individual. We need more staff for operating the zip line given the demand. Also, other upcoming adventure activities will also require more staff to be employed,” added Rao.
Hello Vizag Advice: Ziplines do little damage to the environment. They are of a simple design and have been used for many centuries as a means of getting from A to B. But as with all outdoor activities, remember the golden rule: Respect your environment. And strictly no littering!
