Margasira Masam, which falls in the 9th month of the Hindu calendar, got its name after Mrigasira Nakshatra, considered highly auspicious for Hindus particularly the followers of Lord Vishnu as the month is believed to be the form of Kesava or Sri Maha Vishnu. During this month, the women in some regions of Andhra Pradesh draw dwaram muggulu – special designs on the floor of the main entrance. It is also believed that married women who find it difficult to conceive if offer their prayers to Lord Kartikeya will be blessed with children.

During the coordination meeting officials also discussed the precautions to be taken at the temple premises due to the COVID-19 situation and steps being taken for hassle-free darshan for devotees. They enquired about the queue lines, several amenities being provided at the premises for the devotees. Traffic police will be present to ensure the free flow of traffic and the GVMC’s help has been sought to maintain hygienic conditions in the surroundings.

Reiterating further Ms. Madhavi said that devotees would not be allowed without mask and without advance slot slips. The advance slot slips which are mandatory to have ‘darshan’ of the main deity during the ‘Margasira Masotsavam’ are being provided since December 7 at Sri Sitarama Chandra Swamy temple, Ambika Bagh, and Sri Jagannadha Swamy Temple, Town Kotha Road.” She also said that to get these advance slot slips, people need to submit their Aadhaar card details.
