Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to seers and other guests on the occasion of ‘Bhoomi Poojan’ said that many efforts were made over the centuries, buildings were destroyed in an attempt to try and eradicate Rama’s name but he still lives in our hearts. Modi also said that the deity’s inclusivity and omnipresence was established from the fact that the tale of Ramayana was historically recorded in so many languages and that the deity himself was referenced in cultural history of countries outside India, like Nepal and Indonesia.

“A grand temple will now be built for our Ram Lalla who had been staying in a tent. Today Ram Janmabhoomi breaks free of the cycle of breaking and getting built again – that had been going on for centuries,” Modi said. He said that like the movement for Independence, that was powered by the sacrifices of all Indians, the movement for Ram Janmabhoomi is also one of the sacrifices.

“After the construction of the grand Ram Temple, not only will the grandeur of Ayodhya increase but the entire economy of the region will also change. New opportunities will be created in every field, opportunities will also increase in every field in the region. People from all over the world will come here, the whole world will come to see Lord Rama and Mother Janaki” Modi added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “I know many Indians are emotional today, many cannot believe that they are seeing this day in their lifetime. But I am sure entire India is joyous today as a centuries-old dream has been realized.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the chants of Jai Siya Ram are resonating in the hearts of all Indians. “This chant is not just echoing in Ayodhya but in the entire world,” he added.

Ram Janmabhoomi has got freedom today. Like August 15 is Independence Day for the country, today holds a similar significance for crores of those who devoted their lives for the cause of Ram temple. It is my good fortune that the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust invited me, giving me an opportunity to witness this historic moment. I heartily thank the trust for this, says Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
