Rana Daggubati, who was instrumental in C/o Kancharapalem getting a good buzz and later a decent theatrical roll out, is teaming up with its creator Venkatesh Maha for his next, The Pioneer has exclusively learnt. Although Maha announced a female-centric film Sumathi with producer Praveena Parchuri last August, the shoot involves casting women over 50 years and with the pandemic still at play, the director decided to defer it to some other time and make another story up next.
The source informs, “Maha’s new project is a period drama set in Rayalaseema and the bound script is ready. Rana gave his instant nod and the preproduction is underway. It’s a twohero film and Maha is in the process of roping in another lead actor. He will be discussing sensitive issues like religion and caste through the journey of his two protagonists and the idea is to complete the entire shoot in 35-40 days. The shoot would kick-off shortly.”
The source adds that the untitled film — like Maha’s earlier two films — will be shot in sync sound and with Rana on board as the lead, chances are that it will be dubbed into other Indian languages as well. “The film will be a joint production venture between Suresh Productions, Praveena Paruchuri and Mahayana Motion Pictures,” the source concludes.
