With films like Rang De, Alludu Adhurs and Most Eligible Bachelor more or less vacating the coveted Sankranti spot due to fewer footfalls in cinema halls, the fate of Red, starring Ram, hung in balance. However, on Monday, the actor stated that the film will arrive for the festival season. “When we were gearing up for a red-hot summer, corona shook the world. Red zones were everywhere and Red (the movie) stayed home. Now, it’s time for the red alert this Sankranti,” read a video message on the actor’s Twitter timeline which had visuals from Red.
The messaged ended with the trailer release date-Dec 24. In a statement, he said that the team had waited this long because they wanted to give a theatrical experience for the audience. Interestingly, Red is the second film after Krack to have reiterated their Sankranti release plans. The film will be Ram’s third Sankranti release after Devadas and Maska.
Directed by Kishore Tirumala, the project features Nivetha Pethuraj, Amritha Iyer and Malavika Sharma as leading ladies, while Mani Sharma has composed music. An investigative thriller, it narrates the confusion that arises among a few cops when they find out that the one accused in the murder of a youngster has a look-alike.
