In a first for Ram, his Sankranti release, Red, is being dubbed into seven Indian languages. Film’s producer Sravanthi Ravi Kishore on Thursday said the film has been dubbed into Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, Bhojpuri, and Marathi. “While the Kannada version will release simultaneously with the Telugu version on January 14, the other versions are being planned for a roll-out towards this month-end. The Tamil version, however, will be dropping on an OTT platform. As Ram’s dubbing market in other languages is on the ascendancy, we decided to dub it,” the producer, who is Ram’s uncle, stated.
He further added that Great India Films is distributing the Telugu version in overseas markets like the US, Australia, Singapore, and Dubai. Red, an official remake of Arun Vijay-fronted Tamil hit Thadam, is an investigative thriller that narrates the confusion that arises among a few cops when they find out that the one accused in the murder of a youngster has a look-alike. Last week, director Kishore Tirumala stated that he had worked on it like a new script altogether, only taking the basic idea and plot from the original and giving it a completely new spin.
