Republic Day celebrations were seen at a high pitch at PAPA homes with various types of activities by the inmates during the entire day. Participating as a chief guest, B. Sumida Devi, Additional Director, National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics, Visakhapatnam Zonal Campus, underscored the need for becoming good citizens and exhorted them to financially independent and be part and parcel of the society by contributing their mite for the betterment of general public at large.
The President of the PAPA homes D Surya Prakash Rao said By realizing the pressing need for remedial measures to curb crimes by street children, PAPA homes were started in the year 1999 in association with 14 Non-Governmental (National and International) Organizations like Lions, Rotarians, Y’s Men, JC’s, Waltair Round Table 92, Mahila Action Help Society and others along with members of the Police Department of Visakha Police.
Prizes were distributed to children who had excelled in essay writing and painting. The program ended with a cultural show put up by the girls of PAPA Home. Special guest M V Rajashekar, Secretary Hema Chander, Simhadrappanna prachara Samaikhya members Sanapala Narayanana Swamy, G V Ramana, S Madhava Swamy, PAPA home children participated on the occasion.
