The East Coast Railway on Friday announced that they would resume the train service from Visakhapatnam to Araku from December 18. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, these services had been halted since March 22. The resumption of services was taken keeping in view the needs of locals, tourists, and patients from the area.
Welcoming the decision, TG Prasad Reddy, Visakhapatnam Divisional Manager, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) said several tourists want to travel on the train to Araku with many canceling their trip to Visakhapatnam if they cannot get a reservation.” However, railway officials also said that the glass-domed Vistadome coach will not be in operation. Officials will take a decision on the special coach service after studying the operational and maintenance aspects.
This type of Vistadome coach has been designed to provide a panoramic view to passengers while enhancing their traveling comfort. These coaches have been provided with large windows on the sides and glass panels on the roof to provide a better viewing experience. Also, this is another attempt by the Indian Railways to add to passenger experience while promoting tourism in the country
The daily special train will leave Visakhapatnam at 06.45 am, reach Aaraku at 10 am. In the return direction, the train will operate as 08513-KirandulVisakhapatnam Express, will leave Kirandul daily at 6 am and reach Visakhapatnam on the same day at 08.20 pm.
