The Rohit Memorial Trust (RMT) launched its Project Gudiya today in association with Sampoorna – the centre for physically challenged women, on the occasion of Women’s Day. This unique project is to promote the idea of therapeutic healing of paediatric cancer patients who get a lot of comfort and happiness in clutching on to toys when they are undergoing treatment for cancer. These stuffed toys are being made at Sampoorna in various animal shapes using very good quality materials.
It is also found that the fish-shaped toys are providing relief to patients suffering from neck pain and upper back pain, and are being used on a trial basis by a few doctors. The Trust is associating with Sampoorna and helping them to market their stuffed toys, home cleaning solutions and other items made at the centre.
Trustees and volunteers spent a very good and fruitful day at Sampoorna with the inmates by playing a lot of games with them. It was a day filled with a lot of fun and enjoyment. The Trust from its side gave all the inmates a hamper comprising a saree, a bed sheet and a towel and also hosted lunch for everyone. Many other persons donated gifts and sweets for all the women. The Trust, established twelve years ago, has been carrying out various activities for social upliftment especially in the areas of cancer awareness and women empowerment.
