State Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao said Rs. 50 lakh compensation will be given to the families of the deceased in the crane crash that happened at the Hindustan Shipyard on Saturday. To this end, Minister met representatives of the Hindustan Shipyard ownership and the contractors working for the respective employees.
On this occasion, the Minister said that the factory should take precautionary measures to prevent such accidents. He said it was the responsibility of the management to save the lives of all the workers working in the company. The families of the victims should be generously supported when such unfortunate incidents occur. He said that industrial development requires industrial progress but human life is more valuable than that. The Minister assured that the government would take care of the families of the deceased and provide them more compensation as requested by the affected families.
Trade union leaders were elated at the ex-gratia announced by the company. Also asked the minister to provide financial assistance from the government and give a job to one of the family members. Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagireddy and INTUC leaders lauded the initiative taken by Minister Rajasekhar towards the workers.
