Notices have been issued against 25 hospitals for fleecing Covid-19 patients and non-allocation of 50 per cent of beds for Aarogyasri, according to Joint Collector P Arun Babu on Thursday. The joint collector in a statement here said a total of Rs. 52lakh fine was imposed on the hospitals for not following government regulations and charging excess bills.
The hospitals which were issued notice were Q1 ( Rs. 5 lakh), Navya Green, Adrenaline, Daya, Seven Hills, Ujwal, Susrutha ENT, and Pavan Sai ( Rs. 3 lakh each), Ayushman, Unic, Vijetha, Care, Sri Sivani, LG, Star Pinnacle, St Anns Jubilee, Medicore Unit 3, Omni RK, and Suraksha ( Rs. 2 lakh each) and Satydev, Venkatarama, Smilecare and Pinnacle ( Rs. 1 lakh each), he said.
Vizag district see a drop in new Covid-19 cases
Visakhapatnam district saw a dip in the number of new Covid-19 cases on Thursday. The district recorded 1,434 new cases against 1,840 on Wednesday. District’s cumulative tally reached to 1,33,930 on Thursday.
As many as 11 persons succumbed to the virus on the day, taking the number of fatalities to 874, according to AMC principal PV Sudhakar in a statement here. Around 2,812 patients were discharged on Thursday, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,14,887.
GVMC begins first dose vaccination in Urban PHCs
GVMC Commissioner G Srijana in a press release issued on Thursday said the first dose of vaccination has been started at all urban primary health centres under the GVMC, and at Arilova and Malkapuram FRU centres. She said everyone over 45 years of age will be vaccinated as per the directions of the state government and the second dose will be given after a gap of 84 days from the first jab.
“Given the severity of the Covid-19, everyone over 45 years should get vaccinated. People should follow physical distancing at vaccination centres, wear masks and cooperate with healthcare staff,” the GVMC commissioner added. She directed zonal commissioners to seek police assistance in view of the congestion at vaccination centres.
