SC won’t intervene in State election commission decision of postponement of Elections in AP


Amid Coronavirus outbreak, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar the State election commissioner took a decision of postponement of local body elections as there will be masses of people involved in the elections and the virus can spread.
Where a lot of people lauded the decision as safety comes first, some of them were disappointed and urged the higher authorities to revoke the order of SEC. But it turns out that SC does not want to intervene in this decision and has given a green-lit of going ahead with the order.
Also orders were given from SC that the government can go ahead with on-going programs but the election will take place after six weeks with permission of SEC.
Now the election will be conducted after six weeks in consultation with the Government and revised dates will be scheduled.
