Heart-rending scenes were witnessed at the King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday after parents of a one-and-a-half year old girl could not hold back their grief at her death due to Covid19.

The girl, identified as Achyutapura, had tested positive for the infection and her parents took her to the CSR block of KGH as her condition was critical. The doctors informed the parents that there were no beds available and asked them to wait. The girl was kept in the ambulance with oxygen support for more than an hour before she breathed her last.

The victim’s parents blamed the doctors of the hospitals for not taking care of the patients in emergency. In another tragic incident, a Covid-19 positive patient committed suicide by jumping off the hospital building. Sources said that the victim was depressed after being informed that he had tested positive for the virus and jumped to his death from the CSR block.

Last week too, a 50-year-old Venkata Ramani committed suicide by jumping to her death from the fourth floor of the CSR Block. After her husband and mother-in-law did not recover, Ramani was reportedly worried that she would be left alone with no one to take care of her, and resorted to the extreme step.
