In yet another setback for the AP Government led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Supreme Court of India has now upheld the High Court order suspending the distribution of house site pattas to the landless poor in Krishna and Guntur Districts here on Monday.
Earlier, farmers in the Amaravati capital region approached the High court against the orders issued by the Jagan government on the R5 zone in this regard. After hearing the farmer’s petition, the High court suspended the orders and issued a stay until the investigation into the matter completed.
Thus, the AP Government approached the Supreme Court for canceling the imposed order by the High Court. While hearing the petition filed by the state government challenging the High Court order, Chief Justice of India, Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde opined that there were merits in the orders passed by the High Court. It also directed the High Court to conclude a final hearing on the matter. In the wake of the Supreme Orders, the situation has arisen where the poor who were earlier allotted lands here have to look for lands elsewhere.
