The 3K run organized at the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park on April 8 on the occasion of National Zoo Lovers Day received a tremendous response. About 180 enthusiasts from different parts of the district, from young children to adults, regardless of age, have taken part in the 3K run.
The run, which started with the registration process from 6am and flagged off the run at 7 am. Zoo curator Dr. Nandani Salaria, IFS, said that there are many zoo and animal lovers in Visakhapatnam and the event was organized to give them a chance to get close to nature and wildlife at IGZP on the occasion of National Zoo Lovers’ Day.
A similar feeling is not going to come from running anywhere outside, she added. This 3K run gave a whole new experience to all the participants, the curator said. It was the first time such an event had been held and that more such events would be held in the future. The run was conducted with fewer people due to Corona. The next event is to be planned with more number of people in a grand way.
The event was organized with all the corona precautionary measures such as adhering to social distance and wearing masks. Kiran Kumar, Suresh and Laxman, who finished in the top three, were presented with trophies and certificates along with certificates to all the participants.
