The Visakhapatnam police arrested six people on Sunday for allegedly murdering a woman on 5th June in Akkayapalem.
The inquiry finds that the victim was killed after a dispute over unfair payment of wages between the victim who is apparently a sex worker and Vasantha, the prime accused her employer.
The victim who had come from the town of Ravulapalem in the East Godavari district, had been employed for sex work by one of the accused. She had been living in Visakhapatnam for almost a year.
The police said that after questioning the accused Vasantha, they learnt that the victim wanted to leave as she was being paid too little. So, she and the five other accused confined and tortured the victim physically by burning with a hot metal object, shaved her eyebrows and tonsured her hair to stop her from leaving.
The 4th town police reportedly received an anonymous tip about the suspicious death on Thursday, and intercepted the body before being cremated by the accused to eliminate any evidence. The post mortem report is not disclosed.
