Special de-addicition centre established at KGH, Visakhapatnam


International Day Against Drug abuse and illicit trafficking was observed at Drug Deaddiction centre at KGH. Presiding over the function, Dr.G.Arjuna, Superintendent of King George Hospital informed the gathering that a special deaddiction was established as a part of Navaratnas to eradicate Alcohol consumption as promised by CM Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy. He explained the efforts made to motivate the staff of King George Hospital and Andhra Medical College to give up the bad habit and thus many families could be saved.

Dr.Shirin Rahman, President of Chaitanya Sravanthi NGO, explained efforts made by her over the years in fight against drug abuse. She hailed the policies of the govt. in restricting alcohol consumption and reduce the burden on the family. She suggested that the buyers be asked to provide age proof so that children and teenagers would not be able to buy alcohol.

Dr.P.V.Sudhakar, Principal, Andhra Medical College congratulated Superintendent and staff of deaddiction centre KGH for observing International day against Drug abuse and illicit trafficking.

Chief Guest M.V.V.Satyanarayana, Member of parliament (Lok Sabha), Visakhapatnam appreciated the establishment of Deaddiction centre in KGH as per directions of the Chief Minister. He said that the govt. of Andhra Pradesh would implement prohibition of alcohol in a phased manner by reducing the number of shops and promised his help in achieving the goal of making alcohol free state. He also agreed to the request of the Superintendent to provide a transport vehicle to KGH. M.V.V. Satyanarayana also released the patient periodic deaddiction check up card.

Dr.N.N.Raju, Nodal officer of Drug Deaddiction centre proposed vote of thanks. The guests have interacted with the beneficiaries of deaddiction services of the hospital.

Dy.Superintendent Dr.K.Indira Devi, DCSRMO Dr.K.Anjibabu, ARMOs Dr.Ch.Sadhana, Dr.M.Vijay Sankar, Dr.H.R.K.Dora, Dr.P.Bindu Madhavi and Dr.G.Suresh Kumar, Dr.Vijaya Lakshmi and Dr.Pawan Kumar, staff nurses of Deaddiction centre attended the event.
