In view of the increasing Covid-19 positive cases, the city police have launched a special drive as per the directive of Commissioner of Police Manish Kumar Sinha to enforce Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) norm, particularly wearing face masks. The police are imposing a fine of Rs. 100 on those violating the face mask rule. The special drive was conducted in Vizag from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm. The Commissioner of Police said the special drive was launched as coronavirus cases were spreading. People should wear face masks, maintain social distance and use sanitizers. Sinha also distributed face masks.
Speaking to Hello Vizag, DCP Iswarya Rastogi said that the special drive was launched to enforce the face mask norm. He said they will impose a fine of Rs. 100 on those who don’t wear face masks in public. He said the drive will continue in the future. Special teams comprising SHOs, SIs and police personnel were as part of visible policing and were enforcing masks strictly across the city. He said the drive was launched to promote awareness and impose penalties on violators. He said wearing a mask and maintaining personal hygiene are very important to check the spread of the virus. The DCP said no large public gathering will be allowed in public places and people should avoid contact-based festivals in the near future.
Meanwhile, SP B Krishna Rao, appealed to people to cooperate in checking the spread of Covid-19. He said following the golden CAB rule is the only way to check the virus. He said though the cases were rising, some people were ignoring wearing face masks. It is important for people to realize their responsibility in controlling the virus. He said people’s health is in their hands and they should maintain social distance and wear face masks in public places. He said police would act tough against those violating Covid-19 protocol.
