The Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the land scams in Vizag, committed during the previous TDP regime, has prepared its final report. The SIT team indicated that large scale land irregularities occurred in Vizag and surrounding areas.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic investigation into the land scam got delayed said former IAS officer, Vijay Kumar, who is heading the SIT. “Now, we are ready with the comprehensive report of the land scam in the Vizag revenue division. We will submit the report to the government whenever we are asked to so,” he told the media on Tuesday.
A member of the SIT inquiry, YD Anuradha, said, “The SIT received more than 1,340 complaints. We have attached revenue reports and thoroughly examined each item and included it in the report. Several irregularities took place in Prohibited Lands 22A. More than 500 revenue records have been tampered with.

More than 300 petitions have been filed alleging irregularities in 22A prohibited lands.” The main areas under investigation are amendment in section 22(A) of Registration Act which prohibited registration of land and became a bane for the people, change of classification of government land, assignments made to ex-servicemen, cases of land grabbing, the encroachment of government land by private individuals and identification of persons responsible for tampering with the land records. The entire land scam in Vizag had created a flutter in political circles during the previous TDP regime.
