Spike in cases continue till May end: AMC Principal Dr. PV Sudhakar


Visakhapatnam district on Tuesday recorded over 1,000 new Covid-19 cases for the fourth consecutive day. As many as 1,007 cases were reported on Tuesday against 1,018 on Monday, 1,051 on Sunday and 1,045 cases on Saturday. The total number of cases in the district has gone up to 7,817. The district also reported four deaths on Tuesday.

The number of active cases reached to 8,267 on Tuesday against 7,770 on Monday, 7,141 on Sunday and 6,510 on Saturday, according to AMC principal Dr. PV Sudhkar in a statement here on Tuesday. The district also recorded 506 recoveries, taking the total recoveries to 67,486.

Dr. Sudhkar said according to predictions spike in cases will continue till May end. Meanwhile, GVMC Mayor Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari directed the concerned officials to spray sodium hypochlorite solution in busy areas. The mayor also inspected 2,000 litre capacity Tell Mister spray equipment. She asked GVMC Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) K.S.L.G Sastry KSLG Sastry to spray the solution in busy areas such as Rythu bazaars and all markets in the city.

GVMC Commissioner G Srijana, who visited P & T Colony and NMCH High school, asked the CMOH to provide the necessary equipment, masks, sanitizer and hand gloves to sanitation staff. She said lime power and bleaching powder should be supplied to all ward sanitary inspectors.
