The season of Rakhi is here and women entrepreneurs make it special

While the gift and novelty stores in the city are adorned with colourful, ornamental and decorated rakhis and roli-chawal sets for the brothers and goodies for the sisters, home based entrepreneurs are trying their hand with a touch of creativity to catch up with the latest vogue.

Have you ever imagined tying a rakhi with a photo on your brother’s wrist? This season, surprise your brother with personalised rakhi that is creating a buzz in the city among the youngsters. Unlike last year, when quilled rakhis were the fad, this year personalised cum quilled rakhi are trending in the rakhi sphere. Rakhis are also being customised based on themes. To suit the latest demands, photos are cut into different shapes and kundans, stones and pearls are used to give it a traditional touch.

To make the bond of love between siblings sweeter, women entrepreneurs have converted their home-made chocolates to hand-made rakhis and home-made goodies to gift hampers.

I have also prepared designer rakhi goodie hampers to mark the eternal bond of love.”
