Thirty More Fisherman Defy Lockdown and reach Srikakulam


A week after the last boat arrived at Donkuru in Ichapuram mandal, Srikakulam district another 30 fishermen arrive from Chennai defying the lockdown.

These fishermen had arrived at Gollagandi Village of Sompeta from Chennai.

It may be noted that on April 18, 19 and 20 about 82 fishermen have hailed from Chennai via sea route to Idduvanipalem and Donkuru costal villages on Boats.

However, the local police have intercepted them and sent them to quarantine centers soon after their arrival.

They started from Chennai on April 17. To reach their native places via sea these fishemens had bought boat for Rs 1,80,000.

Just not from Chennai, Fishermen are migrating from Paradeep port (Odisha). Eight fishermen migrated from Paradeep to Srikakulam and out of which two fishermen reached Palasa in a Visakha Diary Van where at a checkpost were caught in inspection and sent to quarantine center.
