In AP, Covid-19 cases are scaling new heights, with the state now occupying the second place in the country on the caseload front, next only to Maharashtra. To overcome this crisis-like situation, the Health Department has embarked on a massive ‘capacity-building’ exercise.
None other than Health Commissioner Katamaneni Bhasker is holding regular video conferences between 8 am and 11 am, giving his suggestions. Next comes district collectors who independently hold video conferences with doctors between 1 pm and 3 pm. After the doctors on the learning curve have a quick tea break, Special Chief Secretary Jawahar Reddy will take over, hearing problems and suggesting remedies between 3 pm and 5 pm. After all these DCs, Chief Secretary Neelam Sawhney will review the situation in yet another video conference, most probably between 7 pm and 9 pm.
To cap it all, Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy interacts with the doctors once a week to improve the situation. After watching all this, one senior officer, gritting his pearly whites, muttered: “What happens to patients if everyone is in video conferences”
