In a bid to shore up its revenue sources, GVMC would allow new commercial buildings and supply treated sewage water. During a review meeting with the GVMC and VMRDA officials with regard to the progress of the various development projects, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Secretary Y Srilakshmi directed the officials to expedite the projects and meet the deadline.
While touching upon the cleanliness programmes, Srilakshmi said that special attention should be given to solid waste management and Sanitation vehicles would be tracked to ensure better collection and disposal of the wastes. Kappulapada dump yard should be constructed with all the smart features and be an ideal example for other civic bodies,” she said.
On increasing the revenue sources of the civic body, Srilakshmi spoke of the scope of treated sewage water from STPs, and commercial buildings. She said new commercial buildings and selling of filtered water to industries and other establishments would generate additional revenues.
