He established the Srinivasan Services Trust- a charitable organization. The trust aims to improve education, the environment, and health in India’s rural areas. He was born to an affluent Brahmin family on 25th November 1955 in Chennai. Despite being the grandson of TVS founder T.V. Sundaram Iyengar, he began his career as a mechanic in his own garage.
After graduating as an engineer from the College of Engineering, Guindy, he completed M.Sc from Purdue University, USA. At 24, he took over as the CEO of Sundaram-Clayton and went on to become the Chairman of TVS Motor Company.
Like any other business, his company also suffered a major loss in the 1980s. He worked hard for more than a decade to get his company back. BY 2001, his company became strong enough to split with Suzuki and started manufacturing on its own. Just year a later, in 2002, the company won the Deming Prize- A coveted international Award for quality management Under his leadership, Sundaram Clayton also won the Deming Prize in 1998. Earning two Deming awards, TVS became the only company in India, and sixth in the world to do so. At 58, these efforts fetched him the Padma Shri Award.
