The Visakhapatnam airport has witnessed the highest progress during these COVID times compared to other airports in Andhra Pradesh. It has stood first in Andhra Pradesh in terms of operation of flights and handling of passengers. The number of flights, passengers, and cargo stood at 32, 24, and 119 during April, and has risen to 128, 7921, and 198 in May.
As per the August data, the passenger’s load is 60839, while is cargo at 244 and the number of flights are 619, these total aircraft movements including international and domestic were highest in Andhra Pradesh. Vijayawada stood second with 507 flights, 30160 total passengers, and 109 cargo handles. Rajahmundry stood third in terms of aircraft movements with 528 followed by Tirupati with 278. Coming to total passengers Tirupati stood third with 18108 passengers, followed by Rajahmundry with 11502.
This data clearly reveals that Visakhapatnam airport is going towards growth and the number will further increase once the Covid-19 situation comes under control. Visakhapatnam is announced as one of the capitals of Andhra Pradesh so the possibility of increasing further is also high.
