Indira Gandhi Zoological Park in Visakhapatnam will remain closed for visitors with immediate effect. Amid spiraling Covid cases, the Chief Conservator of Forest has directed the zoo authorities to restrict the entry of visitors with immediate effect from May 4 till further orders.
Speaking to Hello Vizag, Zoo curator Nandani Salaria said that none of the animals have shown any behavioural change and that all the animals are doing well. She said there is no need to get them tested and added that “The animals are not at risk and are healthy at the moment. Should there be any change in their health, experts will be consulted immediately.”
Special permission has been granted to the zoo staff to visit the premises. The zoo staff will follow Covid protocols at the zoo and outside as well, the curator stated. She said many of the zoo staff has received vaccine does and added that the zoo authorities are trying to get the younger members to get vaccinated at the earliest.
