The Anakapalle police in Visakhapatnam district unearthed an inter-state illegal arms trade racket on Tuesday. Samrat Dhali from Udhamsing Nagar in Uttarakhand, Abhishek Kumar from New Delhi, Mohit from Subhana Jhajjar in Haryana and Chukka Balagangadhar from Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam were arrested.
Giving details of the case, Inspector of Anakapalle Police Station L Bhaskar Rao said that one Bheesetti Lokanadha Rao consumed poison and died in King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam while undergoing treatment on November 28. His relatives while cleaning the house on December 3 found two pistols, three magazines, and 18 live rounds hidden in the sunshade of the house. The deceased person’s father-in-law Karri Sankar Rao informed the police about the hidden arms. Another person Thadi Prasanna Kumar also lodged a complaint that he was threatened by some persons who whipped out pistols and demanded money. He provided the mobile phone numbers of the people who had threatened him.
Police found that deceased person Lokanadha Rao had links with Samrat Dhali and Abhishek Kumar. They arrested Samrat from New Delhi who later confessed that on instructions from Abhishek Kumar, he procured pistols and magazines from one Mohit of Haryana and delivered them to Lokanadha Rao. The police arrested Abhishek Kumar and later released him as he was bedridden with sickness and was unable to move. Mohit was brought to Anakapalle and later sent to judicial remand after producing him in the court.
Finally, they arrested Chukka Balagangadhar of Anakapalle who hatched the plan along with the arms dealers and Loakanadham to extract money from the people at the gunpoint. He lost money through online gambling. The CI said the deceased Lokanadha Rao procured arms to kill his wife and father-in-law who had taken all the money he earned while working in Gulf countries.
