IN TERMS OF LOADING AND EARNINGS IN THE FINANCIAL YEAR 2020-21
Despite the Covid-19 challenges, Indian Railways closed the Financial Year 2020-21 with record freight loading. Waltair Division of East Coast Railway did commendable work towards freight transportation and uninterrupted supply of essential commodities.
In the closing month of this fiscal year 2020-21, Waltair Division surpassed the last year’s originating loading earnings that are Rs 811.61 crores compared to last year’s earnings of Rs 753.53 crores which shows a growth of 7.71%.
In this period, Waltair Division has shown good performance with the earnings to the tune of Rs 7272.88 Crores by transporting 61.13 Million tonnes of freight at an average of running 2750 wagons per day. Waltair Division has maintained the momentum of the highest ever loading on the closing day with 81 rakes.
Divisional Railway Manager Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava appreciated the Team Waltair for achieving the feet despite the Pandemic. Extending congratulations to all employees, he said that, on the mission mode, freight loading for the month of March 2021 crossed last year’s loading and earnings for the same period. The efforts of the railwaymen & women are commendable whose contribution during this Coronavirus infection period was remarkable.
It is also worth mentioning that a number of concessions, incentives are also being given to make the Railways Freight movement very attractive. Setting up of Business Development Unit added momentum to the domestic parcel and cargo.
It may be noted that Freight trains’ speed has also registered a significant increase in the existing network. Relentless efforts continued to utilize COVID 19 pandemic as an opportunity to improve all-around efficiencies and performances.
East Coast Railway is the highest loading Zone in Indian Railways with 204.88 Million Tonnes.
In recognition of commendable services extended by the Staff during the Covid-19 pandemic, the operations department under the leadership of Shri KVSRK Kishore, Senior Divisional Operations Manager, presented mementoes for outstanding performance during a function-Saluting staff for their dedication during corona times.
