When home bakers bring smiles on faces during these distressed times


Amid the negativity all around during the lockdown period due to the pandemic, home bakers from the city made an extra effort to add a zing to the special occasions in one’s family. From baking cakes and other confectionery, home bakers share their experience during the lockdown period.

Preeti Kaushik, an entrepreneur from the city who runs Preetilicious, said, “Although the lockdown was a difficult phase, celebrating life events had become more precious. A few of my clients had approached me to help making their event special. With limited resources, I managed to give them the best cakes.”

She also added, “The themes of cakes ranged from lockdown theme, ‘Go Corona’, ‘Get well soon’ to happy faces theme and Father’s day theme. Initially due to travel restrictions, I did face a lot of challenges. However, at the end of the day, I could bring smiles on faces of people.”

Sruthi Bansal who runs a home-based bakery named ‘Divine Bakes -Patisserie, said, “During the lockdown, there was a lot of demand for customised cakes. I did not want to disappoint my clients so I took all the required precautionary measures and provided them with the best cakes possible.”

“We had taken orders for freshly baked products like cookies, cupcakes, brownies, cakesicles, etc,” added the young baker.

Harsha Shah, another baker who runs Harsha’s sweet treats, said, “I conducted online classes for confectionery products like Ladi Pav, Focasia bread, garlic bread, French loaf, Burger bun, Pizza base, etc.”
