Women Have More Special Abilities Than Men-drm Shri Chetan Kumar


International Women’s day is celebrated to make conscious to all the citizens about Gender equality and deserved respect for women. Waltair Division celebrated International Women’s day with great fervor. The special day was marked with felicitation of women employees by various units, interactive sessions and various friendly competitions were organized.

This year, the theme for International Women’s Day- Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world that implies the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Railway Women of Waltair Division were also at the forefront of the battle against COVID-19, as front-line and health sector workers, doctors, Loco-pilots, guards, ticket checking staff and as care takers of their family.

Indian Railways, Waltair Division in particular, always takes care of its Women workforce by providing amenities at the workplace, by giving due recognition at par with male counterparts and making them partners in Nation building. Railways provide effective opportunities and leadership to women employees to empower them in all spheres.


The Division has organized various events in the weeklong celebrations. Quiz competition was organized for women employees where large participation was witnessed. 12 women were finalized out of which 3 were given First, Second and Third Ranks.

Waltair Division has organized Celebrations of International women’s day at Shri Srinivasa Kalyanamandapam. Divisional Railway Manager Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava was Chief Guest and other Distinguished guests were Shri Akshay Saxena ADRM (infra), Dr.C.Surya Lakshmi ADRM (operations), Dr. Uday Kumar Rtd Professor of Andhra Medical College, Dr.MVR Raju HOD Psychology department of Andhra University and Dr. Bhashini Assistant Divisional Medical Officer of Waltair Division.


Addressing the huge gathering DRM Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava said that a girl or a woman faces many challenges in society or at work place that makes them stronger. They are blessed with special powers, better abilities than men and can do wonders than men. He said women are alternate to god and deserve more respect than any one.

ADRM(operations)Dr.C.Suryakumari said Women are playing a vital role in various activities and sharing more responsibilities in different spheres along with domestic commitments. She said socio-economic development in the unorganized sector should be given top priority.


On the occasion, DRM Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava felicitated 39 women for their outstanding contribution in their respective fields and service to Railways. Apart from that, 3 Women staff, winners of Quiz competition, were also presented with mementoes.
