World Blood Donor Day was celebrated in A.S. Raja Voluntary Blood Bank, Visakhapatnan on June 14. Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, Chairman, Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA), who presided over the function as Chief Guest, had lauded the excellent services being rendered by A.S. Raja Voluntary Blood Bank.
Addressing the gathering, he has exhorted everyone to donate blood voluntarily and help the society at large. In his speech, Mallik, Chairman, Kankatala Textiles Pvt Ltd., Visakhapatnam, who was the Guest of Honour, opined that awareness amongst the public to donate blood voluntarily, is growing and there is a hope that there would not be any shortage of blood in future.
Dr. A.V. Siva Prasad, Chairman, A.S. Raja Trust, has explained the importance of blood donation. Explaining the shortage of blood as compared to demand, he appealed to everyone to voluntary donate blood. Dr.Sugandhi, Managing Trustee, AS Raja Voluntary Blood Bank, has thanked all the voluntary blood donors and camp organisers, who readily came forward to donate blood, during the crucial 11-week lockdown period.
In the 11-week lockdown period, A.S. Raja Voluntary blood bank has totally given more than 2,670 units of blood and blood products, through voluntary donors with the help camp organisers, who brought the donors to AS Raja Voluntary Blood Bank.
AS Raja Voluntary Blood Bank thanked voluntary donors, who acted as the Covid-19 warriors for the society. Uday Patta, was one among the many who was awarded for his dedicated services during the lockdown period.
